We recently catered a lovely wedding at Bradshaw Cricket Club in Bolton. It was a relaxed day despite the poor weather.
We arrived early in the morning to get everything set up. For this event, we used two gazebos. One housed the hog roast and our fresh salads, while the other was set up for the antipasto boards. This worked really well for the space and gave guests plenty of room to walk around and help themselves.
The antipasto boards were prepared by our wedding team and laid out on our solid oak platters. We like to keep things simple but make sure everything looks inviting. The boards were raised so guests could see everything clearly, with plenty of choice available.
Connor made a few final adjustments before the guests arrived to make sure everything was just right. Small details matter at weddings, and presentation always makes a difference.
We used palm leaf plates for the event, which suited the setup nicely. They add a natural look and work really well with the oak platters and rustic style of the display.
While the antipasto boards were being enjoyed, the hog roast was cooking slowly nearby. A proper hog roast takes time, and that slow cooking is what gives the meat its flavour and tenderness. By the time service started the pork was ready to carve and the crackling had come out perfectly.
Alongside the hog roast we served a selection of fresh salads. It makes a great combination and gives guests plenty of choice when building their plates.
Deserts drew the event to a close, well, for the catering team that is. The celebrations would have gone on until the early hours of the morning!
The cricket club made a great venue for a wedding. Outdoor settings like this always suit hog roast catering, and the Marque and gazebo setup worked well for both preparing and serving the food. Guests were able to relax, chat, and enjoy the day while helping themselves to the food.
One of the best parts of events like this is seeing people go back for seconds. The antipasto boards were very popular and didn’t last long once guests started helping themselves.
By the end of the service the platters were empty and the guests were happy, which is always what we aim for. It was a pleasure to cater such a lovely wedding in Bolton and be part of a special day for the couple and their families.
