Hog Roast Blackburn – Wedding Catering at the Grove Venue
Today we travelled just off the M65 to Blackburn, our 12th booking so far in this Lancashire mill town. The booking was to cover Dave and Paul’s wedding catering in Blackburn. They were a popular couple as just over 50 guests attended the main wedding breakfast and over 200 for the evening.
With loads of friends and family all coming together to celebrate the wedding, it was sure to be a brilliant day and night. The weather was nice, and the sun was out. People do think the weather really affects the event; however, honestly, it does have a small impact, but we have worked in torrential rain, and the parties have still been a huge hit.
Today’s event included Antipasto starters, Hog roast and salads for the main, a choice of desserts, and for the evening we were booked to do sausage and bacon sandwiches. We love all-day events. It allows us to set our stall out and enjoy the full day with the guests. Sometimes we feel like wedding crashers!
For today’s wedding catering, we arrived 9 hours before service, 4 am at the Grove in Blackburn. A fantastic venue that lends itself perfectly for our hog roast style catering. This particular event called for 2 gazebos to be set up. We set one up for the antipasto and one for the main hog roast and sides.
The antipasto was ready for 1 pm, the hog roast main was ready for 2 pm. It worked perfectly, as the guests arrived, they grazed instantly on the antipasto, it just helps keep them going on what are long days. Even the children loved the different cheeses on offer!
Yet again, the coleslaw served with the main course brought lots of comments. People ask us how we make it and the secret ingredients we must use. However, there really are no secret ingredients. It’s just fantastic quality parts that are brought together in a proper mayonnaise. We don’t use standard branded mayonnaise — it tends to be mostly rapeseed oil these days, which isn’t something we want anywhere near our food.
After the main wedding breakfast, we break everything down, just leaving one gazebo up. Out comes the Cinders BBQ and griddle, and at 8 pm, the sausages and bacon hit the flames and griddle.
9 pm brought a huge crowd of hungry people. The bacon and sausages went down really well. By 11pm, we had fed the horde and were back in the van, heading back up past Witton Park and onto the M65 motorway.
We’ve done plenty of hog roast weddings in Blackburn over the years, and it’s always the same response — everyone loves it. Nearby areas such as Accrington, Darwen and Great Harwood are also popular places for our hog roast catering, and it’s always the same response — everyone loves it
What stands out about events like this in Blackburn is how relaxed they are. People aren’t stuck at tables waiting — they’re up and about, chatting, eating when they fancy, and just having a good time. It creates a much better atmosphere compared to more formal catering. It’s exactly why hog roast catering in Blackburn works so well for events like this.
All in all, it was a fantastic evening again. Brilliant people, fantastic atmosphere, and great food.
