HOG ROAST IN TIMPERLEY – WEDDING CATERING
Today we travelled over to Timperley for a full-day wedding catering booking. The wedding was for Tom and Rachel, and they had 80 guests for the daytime, building to 150 for the evening.
Weddings in Timperley always have a really good feel to them. This one was no different, a nice mix of family, friends and the thing that we think makes a wedding, plenty of children. So plenty was happening from early on, and it was a really super relaxed atmosphere throughout the day.
The venue, which was Tom’s best man’s residence, was on Rogerson Close. It provided a great space and lovely setting to showcase our setup. They were plenty of space for both the hog roast and antipasto area. These types of weddings are always our favourite, as we get to be part of the full day.
SETTING UP FOR A FULL DAY SERVICE
We arrived early in the morning to get everything ready. 6 am to be precise. The hog was being roasted in situ at this event. We had the instructions to have the antipasto ready for 1pm and the hog from 3 pm. With weddings like this, timing is key, especially when we are covering multiple parts of the day.
Gazebos up, hog on, prep underway, what a perfect job.
ANTIPASTO AND DAYTIME SERVICE
The antipasto was the first to go out, ready for when guests arrived. As always, it went down really well. Guests were straight over, helping themselves, and it just got the day started properly. Guests grazing over the cheeses and meats whilst chatting the day away.
It stops that lull you sometimes get at weddings before the main meal and keeps everyone happy while the day builds.
We had plenty of comments on how good it looked, which is always nice to hear. So many photos being taken.
THE HOG ROAST TAKES CENTRE STAGE
As the hog roast got closer to being ready, people naturally started coming over. We raise it from the oven around 30 minutes before service. This time gives us chance to take the crackling off whilst at the same time letting the meat settle. We find this time to be crucial. The juices return into the hog and make for the most amazing tender pulled pork.
It doesn’t take long before guests are popping over and asking questions.
“How long has that been cooking?”
“Did you cook it here?”
It becomes part of the day rather than just the food.
Serve time came around, and we got straight into it. Fresh rolls, stuffing, apple sauce and plenty of crackling. As always, the crackling didn’t last long.
For this menu Tom & Rachel requested the Greek salad. A great choice, the feta cheese amongst the red onions and fresh rocket is just divine.
Lots of people came back for seconds, which is always a great sign, and again is another option you just don’t get at more formal catering venues.
EVENING SERVICE – BACON AND SAUSAGE SANDWICHES
As the evening guests started arriving, we had already started the griddle and BBQ up.
Sausages and bacon went on, and the smell alone was enough to bring people straight over.
There’s something about bacon sandwiches later on in the night that just works at weddings. It really is a day of fantastic food.
By this point, everyone is properly relaxed, the music is on, and the food just keeps the night going.
GREAT FEEDBACK AND A BRILLIANT DAY
We had plenty of guests coming over asking about bookings and taking cards, which is always great to hear.
We’ve done quite a few weddings in Timperley and nearby areas like Sale and Altrincham, and it always works the same, relaxed, social, and a great atmosphere.
All in all, a fantastic day from start to finish.
