Why Hog Roast Catering is Perfect for Events in Burnley

Why Hog Roast Catering is Perfect for Events in Burnley

Have you ever been to an event in Burnley? Whether it was a wedding, birthday, or just a proper get-together in someone’s garden — if you have, then you’ll know one thing straight away… the food makes it!

And more often than not, people are starting to move away from the usual boring buffets and going for something a bit more special. Don’t get me wrong, we still enjoy a great buffet as long as the quality of the food is good; however, a hog roast really is next-level stuff.

Our event tally in Burnley is really clocking up now. Last year, we catered 9 hog roast events in Burnley. Our thinking on why Burnley is climbing our ranking list is quite simple. It’s one of those towns where everyone seems to enjoy rustic, no fuss, fantastic quality simple food.

It Suits the Way Burnley Does Events

We have found Burnley to be the sort of place where people don’t want anything too fussy or overly formal. Actually, we are finding this to be the case in general. Most events now want a relaxed vibe — gardens, small venues, countryside spots just outside town, and weddings.

We’ve been over near Towneley Hall a few times — what a fantastic outdoor space that is for the town. Very busy with dog walkers and budding young footballers alike. Just around the corner and up towards Thompson Park has been another hot spot for our hog roast events, and it’s always the same — once the hog roast is on, people naturally gather around it, and the conversation just flows.

It’s quite funny actually… listening to all the questions, you can guarantee we will get asked, “so how long has this been cooking then?” I don’t think we have done an event where this question hasn’t come up.

It Gets People Talking (and Eating)

One thing we love about hog roast events is how different the atmosphere is compared to standard catered events. There is genuinely a lovely atmosphere created. It’s nice for guests to have a wander and chat in line whilst being served. It creates such a good buzz rather than sitting formally waiting for the more traditional slice of beef, three roast potatoes and a smidging of gravy to be served.

We much prefer the atmosphere. The wedding antipasto boards are just the best idea we have come up with. When your guests arrive the boards are ready, and there free to help themselves and graze on them all day.

It’s great to see people nibbling on Italian meats and cheeses, glass of fizz in hand and engaging in conversation. It really is lovely. To us there is no comparison. If we’re being honest, it’s the kind of setup you wish you’d seen years ago when planning your own wedding — it just wasn’t about the same back then.

What Makes It Work So Well

  • chat while the food is cooking and being served
  • grab food when they fancy
  • go back for seconds (and they always do)
  • a relaxed, social atmosphere throughout

There’s no rush, no pressure — just good food and people enjoying themselves. We love serving the guests, especially once they’ve had a drink or two — there’s always a great vibe and plenty of banter, which definitely helps lift the whole atmosphere.

And that’s exactly what people at events in Burnley want.

Simple Quality Food, Done Properly

At the end of the day, it doesn’t need to be complicated.

Every one of our hog roasts is:

  • slow-roasted for a minimum of 8 hours
  • crispy crackling guaranteed
  • fresh rolls baked on the day
  • salads sourced from a local farm shop
  • always served with homemade apple sauce

That’s all people really want — good quality food, done right. It’s not something you would imagine is hard to do, yet so many companies still get it wrong.

The feedback we receive after the event — whether it’s in person at the end of the day or later via message or review — always points to the same thing. People genuinely love the food, their guests comment on it, and our details get passed on.

Do the job right, take time with the details, and you really can’t go wrong. People love it — and we love being part of that.

Works for Big Events and Small Events

A lot of people think hog roasts are only for big weddings, but that’s not really how it plays out.

Some of the best events we’ve done in Burnley have been:

  • back garden parties
  • smaller family celebrations
  • relaxed birthday gatherings

It works just as well for 30–40 people as it does for 100+. Yes, it can work out slightly more expensive for smaller numbers due to staffing, travel and setup, but it’s always worth it.

To date, the smallest full hog roast we’ve catered for was just 7 people! I think that one was more about making an impression than anything else — and it certainly did.

Covering Burnley and Nearby Areas

Although based in Manchester, we regularly cater across Burnley and the surrounding areas, including Padiham, Nelson and Colne.

So whether it’s a venue in town or something a bit further out, a hog roast will suit. We can cater both indoors and outdoors. Typically, we require outdoor space for a 4.5 x 3 metre gazebo, although indoor setups can be arranged with less space — something we can always discuss when you get in touch.

If You’re Planning Something in Burnley

When your event in Burnley starts coming together, don’t forget — a hog roast is something different. It’s not just about the quality of the food, it’s about the whole experience.

We always serve a full hog, and it’s something guests love seeing. We often get asked whether we provide half hogs — we assume that’s what some others are offering — but unless specifically requested, we always go full. It’s part of the spectacle, and that’s what it’s all about.

Hog roasts are about abundance. Plenty of food, properly cooked, and served in a way that people enjoy. No scrimping here — we like to see it as an old medieval feast would have been.

We don’t overcomplicate things either. It’s just fantastic quality food, roasted perfectly, and served in a simple way that works.
